How to record a product demo video
A good product demo is one unbroken take of a single flow, recorded at a fixed size, with a cursor the viewer can follow. Script three beats, clear your screen of anything private, record the tab in one pass, and export at 1080p. ReelCap covers the recording end of that: fixed output sizes, a highlighted cursor and click ripples, narration and a webcam bubble, all in one take.
Doing it without an extension
- 1Write down three beats: the problem, the click path that solves it, and the result worth remembering.
- 2Open a clean profile or window — no personal bookmarks, no notifications, no half-finished test data.
- 3Record the flow slowly, pausing on each result for a beat before you move on.
- 4Trim the head and tail in an editor and export at a size the platform accepts.
Where that falls short
- Recorded at a random window size, the video gets letterboxed or cropped by whatever platform you upload it to.
- Without visible clicks, viewers can't tell what you pressed, so you end up narrating every mouse move.
- Re-recording after a small mistake means repeating the whole editing pass as well.
Doing it with ReelCap
- 1Choose a fixed output size in the popup — 1080p for YouTube, vertical for social, square for embeds.
- 2Turn on the highlighted cursor and click ripples so every action reads on screen, plus your microphone for narration.
- 3Use the 3-2-1 countdown to start cleanly, and pause between beats instead of stopping.
- 4Preview the take, download the WEBM, and upload it as-is — no watermark, no edit pass.
Every step happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the export carries no watermark.
