Who is responsible

ReelCap is a product of Xeviora, a brand operated by LIU HU, a sole proprietor, who is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Contact: support@xeviora.com

Data we collect

No recordings, ever. ReelCap does not collect, store on any server, transmit, share, or sell your recordings, microphone audio, camera video, browsing history, or page content. Every recording is captured, composited and encoded locally on your own device. Your settings live in your browser's extension storage and never leave your machine. There is no analytics and no telemetry.

If you create an account, we store what the account requires: your email address (plus the name and profile picture Google or GitHub share with us, if you choose to sign in with them), an authentication record including your session's IP address and browser user agent, and two numbers — how many free Pro credits you were granted and how many you have spent. We do not record which feature you spent them on, or when.

If you buy Pro or Lifetime, we additionally store your plan and subscription status. Payment card details are handled by our reseller Paddle and never reach us.

Pro features and your account

The three paid features — click auto-zoom, MP4 export and GIF export — are computed entirely in your browser, exactly like the free ones. Paying does not change where your video goes; it goes nowhere.

The account is what your free credits and any purchase are attached to, so they follow you rather than one browser. The extension makes no network request of any kind until you sign in or press "Restore purchase" in its settings. After that it contacts reelcap.xeviora.com in exactly two situations: to read your plan and remaining credits (about once a day), and to report that one credit was spent. Both requests carry your session cookie and a number — never recording data, page URLs or usage statistics.

You can delete your account at any time by emailing us; deletion removes the email address, the authentication record, the credit counters and any subscription record from our database.

Payment processing

Payments are processed by our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle.com ("Paddle"). Paddle collects and processes your payment and billing information (such as name, email, billing address, country and payment details) as an independent data controller in order to process your order, calculate taxes, prevent fraud and meet its legal obligations. We never receive or store your full card details. We receive limited order information from Paddle (such as your email, country, plan and transaction status) to provide the service. Checkout for all Xeviora products runs on xeviora.com. To start a checkout, this site passes only the plan you chose, your account email (to pre-fill the form) and a signed reference to your ReelCap account, so the purchase can be attached to it.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run the website and your account. None of them ever receives a recording.

Hosting — Vercel. Serves reelcap.xeviora.com and its API, and processes standard request data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site.

Database — Neon. Stores the account data described above: email, authentication records, credit counters and plan status.

Payments — Paddle.com. Our reseller and Merchant of Record, as described in the section above.

Sign-in — Google and GitHub (optional). Only if you choose to continue with one of them; they confirm your identity and share your email address, name and profile picture with us.

Newsletter — MailerLite (optional). Only if you subscribe to product updates; your email address goes directly to MailerLite and is not stored in our database. You can unsubscribe from any email.

Permissions and why they are needed

tabCapture

Captures the rendered video (and optional audio) of the active tab you choose to record. It only starts on an explicit action by you.

offscreen

Runs an offscreen document, the only MV3 context allowed to use `getUserMedia` and `MediaRecorder`, to grab the stream, mix audio, composite the canvas, and encode the WEBM file.

activeTab

Grants one-time access to the current tab only when you start a recording, so its stream can be captured.

scripting

Injects the self-drawn cursor and click-ripple overlay into the page being recorded on demand. ReelCap does not run a persistent content script.

tabs

Reads the active tab's title/URL to name the recording and route the finished clip to the local preview page.

storage

Persists your settings and the recording state so an in-progress recording survives the service worker being recycled.

unlimitedStorage

Lets long recordings be buffered locally in IndexedDB without hitting the small default storage quota.

Host access (<all_urls>)

Required so the highlighted cursor and click ripples can be drawn on whatever page you record, and so the extension can ask reelcap.xeviora.com about your Pro plan when you press Restore purchase. Access happens only when you start a recording; ReelCap does not run a persistent content script and reads no page content.

Microphone and camera are not requested in the manifest. They are granted at runtime through the browser's standard `getUserMedia` prompt, only if you enable them, and the streams are mixed/composited locally and never transmitted.

Where your recordings live

A finished recording is written to your browser's local IndexedDB so the preview tab can play it back, and it is saved to your own Downloads folder when you click download. Converting to MP4 or GIF reads that same local copy and writes the result locally too. Nothing is uploaded — we operate no service that could receive a video. Discarding a recording in the preview tab deletes it from local storage.

Remote code

ReelCap does not load or execute any remote code. All JavaScript and WebAssembly are bundled in the extension package.

This website

reelcap.xeviora.com runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Your theme and language preference are kept in your browser's local storage and never sent anywhere. The only cookie we set is the session cookie created when you sign in, which is strictly necessary to keep you signed in; it is host-only and is not shared with any other Xeviora site. As with any web host, our hosting provider processes standard request data (such as IP address) to serve and protect the site; we do not add tracking on top of it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, email support@xeviora.com from the address on your account. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. The current version is always published on this page.
